Expanding Access to Digital Books with Palace: The Academic Experience, 11 - 11:10 a.m. ET, part of Innovation Session 2, which runs from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. ET
Like many universities, the University of California has been seeking ways to simplify access to digital content from both open access and licensed content in scholarly publishing. The University has launched a pilot exploration of how one possible solution, Lyrasis’ Palace Project, might address some of the shortcomings in the digital book market while simultaneously encouraging broader adoption of ebook standards. Many of these standards, such as the Open Publication Distribution System (OPDS), would make moving and loading information ebooks across access and delivery platforms easier for both consumers and providers.
