On September 22, Lyrasis launched its new Members’ Table series with the inaugural session, Planning in Disrupted Times: Protecting What Defines Us. This new series reflects the heart of Lyrasis’ mission by creating member-led, candid and off-the-record spaces for libraries, archives and museums to connect, share wisdom and strengthen resilience together.

The opening conversation brought together a panel of distinguished leaders:

  • Jason Kucsma, Director of Toledo Lucas County Public Library and Lyrasis Board Chair
  • Trevor A. Dawes, Vice Provost for Libraries and Museums at the University of Delaware
  • Anthony Chow, Director of the iSchool at San Jose State University
  • Takeya McLaurin, Chief Human Resources Officer at Lyrasis

Moderated by John Chrastka, Executive Director of the EveryLibrary Institute, the member-led discussion explored the challenges and opportunities libraries face in politically and culturally disruptive times. Panelists reflected on how their institutions are adapting to shifting environments, reaffirming core values of equity and inclusion, learning from staff and preparing the next generation of librarians.

The success of this inaugural session underscored the power of convening members in trusted spaces, positioning Lyrasis not only as a service provider but as a collaborative partner invested in the collective strength of its diverse membership. The Members’ Table will return in a couple months with a new topic, speakers and opportunity for a conversation. The Members' Table is for Lyrasis Members only and not recorded.
