The team’s strategic approaches focus on group negotiations for content licensing and acquisition, building communities of practice and support for open research services, and creating equitable and sustainable models for Open Access. Maria Brady planned for a career in corporate security after receiving a BS from UMass Boston (then Boston State College). Instead, she took a different path when she accepted an offer at NELINET, the regional library network in the Northeast US. Lyrasis is fortunate to still have her 30 years later. Maria lives in Waltham, Massachusetts, and is well known among many member institutions and users of Lyrasis products and services. A seasoned professional, she provides outstanding service and solutions to Lyrasis members and users by phone, email and chat.

Kirsten joined Lyrasis in 2020 and serves as a Portfolio Specialist. Prior to joining Lyrasis, Kirsten worked primarily in eResources and Acquisitions at academic institutions in North Carolina, Montana, and Pennsylvania. She holds degrees from Colorado College (BA) and the University of Pittsburgh (MLIS).

Jill E. Grogg is a Lead Strategist with Lyrasis. In her role, Jill negotiates with vendors and content providers to ensure Lyrasis member libraries and partners reach the best possible outcomes for the acquisition and delivery of electronic resources and services. She also works with global Open Access (OA) initiatives as part of Lyrasis' overall OA efforts. Additionally, Jill helps to manage a variety of unique communities that Lyrasis serves. Before coming to Lyrasis in 2015, Jill was the electronic resources coordinator at The University of Alabama (UA) Libraries and attained the rank of Professor while at UA. Jill has published and presented widely, including co-authoring The Librarian's Guide to Negotiation (Information Today, 2012). Jill continues to teach intermittently as an adjunct instructor at several library schools. Paolo P. Gujilde, Senior Strategist for the ORCID US Community, joined Lyrasis in 2021. In his role, he helps in managing and supporting the ORCID US Community, a consortium of nonprofit ORCID members. This includes assisting and guiding member organizations from planning for and implementing ORCID in their organization. Paolo started his library career in academic libraries specializing in collection strategies and scholarly communications. Shannon Hahn-Wallace joined Lyrasis in 2024 as a Portfolio Specialist after working for many years in and around libraries and publishing, including roles at OCLC, McGraw-Hill Education, and the Columbus Metropolitan Library system. Shannon holds degrees from The Ohio State University (BS) and Kent State University (MLIS).

Sharla Lair is the Lead Strategist for Open Scholarship at Lyrasis, where she shapes programs that help libraries and scholarly communication communities move toward a more open, equitable, and sustainable future. She manages the Lyrasis Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP), which supports community-driven funding models rooted in transparency and collaboration. Through her work with OACIP and service on several advisory boards in the global open access community, Sharla strengthens shared understanding of open scholarship and fosters broader participation in models that center community needs and values. Kaela RamhitKaela Ramhit, Program Specialist, ORCiD US Community

Kaela Ramhit serves as the Program Specialist for the ORCID US Community, joining Lyrasis in November 2023. In this role, she serves and supports the management of the ORCID US Community consortium. Previously, she has worked in both academic and public libraries, supporting patrons in instruction and research, with a focus on accessibility services. Stephanie Moreland joined the Lyrasis Member Services team in April 2008 and transitioned to the Content and Scholarly Communication Initiatives team in 2021. In her role, Stephanie negotiates with vendors and content providers to ensure Lyrasis member libraries and partners reach the best possible outcomes for the acquisition and delivery of electronic resources and services. She also works with a variety of Open Access (OA) initiatives and programs that create inclusive opportunities for diverse institutions to engage with an evolving scholarly communication and publishing landscape. She is a graduate of American Intercontinental University (AIU), where she majored in Business Administration. Stephanie is a peach plucked straight from Georgia, and her heart pours southern hospitality.

Amanda N. Price joined the Lyrasis Member Services team in September 2022 and transitioned to the Content and Scholarly Communication Initiatives team in January 2025. In this capacity, Amanda focuses on concierge services for unique partnerships, such as the Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI), Maryland Digital Library (MDL), and other special groups and communities that partner with Lyrasis. Sheila Rabun is the Lead Strategist for Research Infrastructure Programs at Lyrasis. She serves the ORCID US Community, the Lyrasis DataCite US Community, and the US RAiD Pilot. Sheila has worked in the academic library field since 2010, with a focus on digital workflows, agile project management, communicating technical information to diverse audiences, and advocating for interoperability in research and scholarly communication ecosystems. Michael Rodriguez serves as Lead Strategist for CSCI Program Operations at Lyrasis, where he coordinates program operations, negotiates consortial license agreements, and develops open access programs at a national scale. He has served as the collections strategist at the University of Connecticut and president of the Association of College and Research Libraries’ New England Chapter. He holds degrees from Florida State University (MLIS) and Florida Gulf Coast University (BA). Michael has published and presented widely and received the Library Journal Reviewer of the Year Award, NASIG Horizon Award, and Charleston Conference Up & Comer Award. Robin has a proven track record of over thirty years in the industry, with over twenty years of leadership experience in the academic library and publishing marketplace at organizations such as Gale and Sage. Robin’s strengths in complex sales and library outreach give her exceptional foundational knowledge of vendor processes and member experience. Since joining Lyrasis, Robin has used her breadth of industry knowledge and her experience as a Certified DEIA Trainer to support and advocate for her CSCI Services teammates and Lyrasis staff as a whole.

Kathleen Spring joined Lyrasis in 2022, after spending nearly two decades working in various roles in academic librarianship at a small, private liberal arts institution. Prior to beginning a career in libraries, she taught communication studies at several higher ed institutions. Kathleen holds degrees from Hofstra University (BA), Southern Illinois University (MS), and the University of Alabama (MLIS).

Max Stecker joined Lyrasis in December 2024 and serves as a Portfolio Specialist. He has two decades of experience working primarily in academic libraries at both large public and small private institutions, managing and troubleshooting electronic resources access and coordinating monographic & electronic resources acquisitions. A seventh-generation Hill Country Texan, Max is active both on and off the stage with his local community theaters.

Christy Urquieta Cortes serves as a Strategist on the Content & Scholarly Communication Initiatives team at Lyrasis. Her focus is to develop strategic and innovative licensing practices and content packages that provide Lyrasis members with the greatest value possible. She previously worked as the Electronic Resources Librarian for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she led the Resource Management team in providing seamless access to electronic resources. She has a growing portfolio of presentations and publications that cover topics exploring licensing eResources in a higher education setting, artificial intelligence, and copyright law.
